Recap

When your back is against the wall, the claws come out, and your tenacity shines through. This adage holds true in football as well. The Red team fell victim to overconfidence and let up. The Gold team took advantage of this, as they had nowhere to go but up. With their backs against the wall, they clawed and climbed out of the hole they were in. The game ended with the Gold team fighting back from a two-zero deficit to end in a draw. Uncle G, known as the “Goal Obeah Man,” scored the second goal for the Red team, while the first one was scored as an own goal by Mahad, who was attempting to stop a cross to Uncle G right in front of the goal. Money wave revived and gave hope to the Gold Gemz, putting them on the score sheet for their first goal. The highlight goal came from Man of the Match, Jogo, who scored with a fancy flick after receiving a beautiful cross from Amani from the right corner flag.

Games are won by teams who are willing to fight for it. This draw exemplifies that, as the Gold team played one man short throughout the game, ending with only seven players on the pitch. With match day 9 approaching, the Red team is surely eager to make up for their missed opportunity to secure all three points against the Gold team. The Gold team, on the other hand, seemed grateful for the one point earned, as their deficit on the table would have increased if they had lost. They remain two games behind the Red team.
