!!! What happened? “I felt like I got kicked in my head by a mule, accosted… I felt like some one stole my lunch money…,” these are the words from the team Manager of di Winnerz, Mahad. I think the one who stole that money was Patch, who scored not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 goals in the second half. To call this match a disaster for di Winnerz would be an understatement. Great philosophers and scholars are still pondering this conundrum and griots alike are looking for the words to tell the tale to the next generation. This was not only a day in infamy but a night of demoralizing defeat, leaving a lingering sense of dread and unease at the mere thought of facing the next day.

The match started with an 8 to 5 advantage over the Champion Squad who could not defend the advantage and fluid attack from their opponents. Within 5 minutes the first goal scored and another five after that, goal number 2. After half time di Winnerz seemed to be so comfortably in control that they stopped trying. As you know in football, the game is never over until it is over. All it took was one mistake in the final third for “PATCH,” the undisputed Man of the Match, to take advantage and fill the back of the net. After that slightness from di Winnerz, another disaster and another ball in the net. Lost composure and relentless pressure from the Champion Squad caused disarray and calmness to go out the window. This was simply a game of will and to their credit, the Champ Squad wanted it more. Their opponent simply could not handle the heat, gave up and withdrew into the evening. The saga of Patch forever etched into their brains of spectators at Wade Walker Park will be told for time to come. Can di Winnerz recover from this one, only time will tell. We will see.
