Vets vs Rookies

Rookkeyz -vs- Vets — Round 11

The youths had it in mind, as usual, that they were going to overwhelm the elders with their strength and speed. The Vets were not having it. No. They refused to succumb to the early pressure. It was like a barrage of locust swarming and blinding the Vets as the game began. A little after the elders warmed up, as usual, the piper was playing a different tune. The battle had began and troops started falling off and resigning to the bench. As the match evolved, the raid continued, but to no avail, the elders defense stood strong. The few chances the vets had, they could not score either. Although they were relying on the counter, the Rookkeyz speed and luck was just too much for them. Ultimately, the the match ended in a draw with either team scoring. Nothing too spectacular happened but just a fiercely fought battle in which the Vets needed the win to take the championship through goal difference. With this being the last game of the season, the Proving League championship goes to the Rookkeyz who were 3 points ahead on the table.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ROOKKEYZ, 2023 PROVING LEAGUE CHAMPIONS.

Rookkeyz -vs- Vets – Round 9

Well, it did not look good for the elders who started the game and was down a goal so fast before they had the time to warn up. They rallied back, equalized and went up a goal. Not to be out  done, the Rookkeyz answered with a goal of their own and went on to add two more to finalize the game 4 to 2. The Vets had ample scoring opportunities but could not capitalize due to the speed of the youngsters. It was like watching a rabbit go up against a greyhound, you are bound to know the results. Speed kills as they say, but not in this case. The youths used their speed and simply outpaced the vets, leaving a few mild expletives and disappointments for not being fast enough on the counter. All in all, when it looked as if the game would simply be another draw, the youths was not having it. They left the pitch with nothing but satisfaction and laughter. Laugh as they did, the victor earned the right to on this day. Good game youngsters, touche! Another match day awaits… might not be much because there is now a 6 point deficit with 2 games remaining in the season. We will see what match game  game 10 and 11 brings.

Vets -vs- Rookkeyz – Round 8

It seems like the Rookkeyz can’t manage to keep up with the Veterans. Going a mile a minute and getting shut down in the end. At the start of the game, they were very much in control with pace speed and ball possession. But like some old truck, the elders needed time to warm up and get going. Once they did, the game changed and the battle begun. Everything was locked down and cleaned up in the not-front by the old cleaner himself Mark, along with Mahad the passing lane thwart-er. The vet’s goal was very much safe and protected. Raid after raid, speed and skill could not help the youngsters to penetrate a three man, sometimes two man defense line. On the other end of the attacking, the elders had enough chances to score but to no avail. It was after 1855 in California, no goal insight. Although it was a tie game, if you ask this old reporter, the youngsters, with seemingly more strength and stamina lost this one. Excellent match never the less, no one hung their head down in the end. It was one for the ages.
