Red Side @ Gold Gemz — Match Day 23

Well, the fat lady has sung and its over for the Gold Gemz. The Red side rallied from 1 zero to win the game 2 to 1, thanks to an unfortunate last minute own goal by Mahad defending a cross from Trini. The match started out evenly but it was the Gold Gemz who drew first blood with a disputed no goal from MoneyWave. Soon it was a driller from Jogo to put the Gemz on the score sheet. Not wanting to be out shined and refusing to relent, the Red Side soon answered with a Goal of their own from from Tari on a pumsist from the man of the match, Kishane. Fighting back and forth, the two teams were evenly match but as mentioned before, it was an unfortunate own goal that sealed the deal in the last minutes of the match. Sometimes, the football Gods grants you no favors. Nevertheless, the ball is round and for this go round of the 2024 Genesis Champion’s League: Spring Edition, it is the Red Side who will raise the trophy and have all the bragging rights. They are miles ahead on the league table and with only 5 matches to go, the Gold Gemz cannot see the light in the tunnel. Some highlights of the match was Rajae salading Jogo who put the crowd in a frenzy. However, Jogo quickly answered with the penetrator to the Red teams goal. Congratulations to the Red Side for a match well earned.

Gold Gemz @ Red Side — Match Day 22

Fight! It looks like the Gold Gemz is not going down without a fight showing up fully loaded for this match day. Needing to win all further matches and gain 21 goals in the process, it looks like they are going for it and make a miracle happen. It started by chipping away at the difference by 4 goals. We will see if their quest or dream get shattered next match day.

This match day however, was dominated by the Gold Gemz with the Man of the Match, Calvin, who ran the midfield and brought the game to the Red Side. MoneyWave scored the first goal and the rest was history. Some highlights of the match was Mackie salad-ing Jogo but Jogo in turn drilled one to the goal that seemed to penetrate the defenders and the goal keeper and making the statement, “a salad don’t mean a thing if you are not scoring.”

The Gold Gemz’ defense was impenetrable, with the Red Side unable to get a shot past them. Despite their efforts, they looked worn out, and even when Trini came on to provide a strength, it was too little, too late, no avail.

In short, nothing could go wrong for the Gold Gemz this match day. We’ll see if their quest can continue next match day.

Gold Gemz @ Red Side — Match Day 20

It is all but decided, the Red Side is already raising the trophy. There is only one way the Gold Gemz can catch up. 7 Games left and 21 points up for grabs and the Gold side is 21 points not-front. It is all but impossible for them to win. If by some miracle they were to win all 7 games, they would have to win by an astronomical amount of goals to give the Red side any talk. With that in mind, Match day 21 will be the deciding factor. As usual, the Red side started out strong and scored two early goals by the Man of the Match, Uncle G, who later went on to complete the hat trick. A conciliatory goal was scored by Happy Feet in the final 5 minutes of the match. That was to no avail. As usual Joel had to either salad or pile some one, and this day it was Jogo who fell victim to his trickery. MoneyWave also found himself as victim of Rambo’s pile. All and all it was a tuff loss for the Gold team who played fairly well after the 2 early goals but it seems like the football gods have been against them all season. C’est la vie.

Gold Gemz @ Red Side — Match Day 19

It was rather embarrassing how the Red Side dismantled the Gold Gemz. they started out with 7, and stood strong. Joel, the man of the match scored the first goal and after that the Red Side anchored down on the defense and counter with 2 more goals to complete his hat trick. Totally flustered was Gold team, they could not penetrate the impregnable defense. Simply put, they were out played, out hustled and out numbered with more players than the Red Side. I do not know how it was in the locker room, but… it could not have been nice. Lets see what may come because the Red side is now leading by 18 points  on the table and with only 24 points left up for grabs, it does not look good. Memorable moments was Alex issuing out the on the ground pile special as he piled Tari who was floored on a play.

Red Side @ Gold Gemz — Match Day 18

This one is call the “heartbreaker.” One of the worst loss is football is a “Bob Marley” (1 – Love), in the last minute of the match. Somber mood was that for the Gold Gemz as the got their souls snatched in the exact last minute of the game by man of the match, Donald from a pumsist from …  It was a a well balanced defensive game. The Red Side started off a little shaky and the Gold Gemz did not capitalize. As the match progressed, both teams played fairly well and the defense was on point but sometimes it is just how the cards fall.
